IBPS Common Written Exam for 82 Region Rural Banks (RRBs) in Sep 2012


IBPS has been given yet another responsibility and this is to conduct a common written exam (CWE) for 82 Region Rural banks in India. Candidates seeking employment in RRBs will now have to qualify this common exam with good enough marks to get Interview calls from various RRBs whenever they need to recruit for Officers/Office Assistants posts.
knowledge of Local Language is a must as RRBs are confined within a particular region and knowing local language becomes a must to work there.

There are total of 82 RRBs currently in our country that will now recruit through a common written exam conducted by IBPS. The Posts are for Officers (Scale -I/II/III) and Office Assistants.
As per the advertisement -
"A candidate can apply for the Post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and can also apply for the Post of Officer. However a candidate can apply for only one post in officer’s cadre i.e. for Officer Scale-I or Scale-II or Scale-III."

Important Dates

  • Online application registration: June 1 - 25, 2012,
  • Online Fee Payment - : June 1 - 25, 2012,
  • Offline Fee Payment - : June 4 - 30 , 2012,
  • Written Exam Date (Officers) - : September - 2, 2012,
  • Written Exam Date (Office Assistants) - : September - 9 , 2012,

Eligibility Criteria (As on June 1, 2012)
  • Age Limits
    • Office Assistants - 18 - 28 Years,
    • Officers (Scale - I)- 18 - 28 Years,
    • Officers (Scale - II)- 21 - 32 Years,
    • Officers (Scale - III)- Below 40 years
  •  Officers (Scale-III) .
    • Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum of 50% marks.
    • Min Five years of Experience as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution..
  •  Officers (Scale-II) .
    • There are various posts under this category such as General Banking officers and Specialist Officers.
    • Experience (1 - 2 Years) is required for each post so we suggest you to go through advertisement for more details about posts in this category.
  •  Officers (Scale-I) .
    • Degree in any discipline,
    • Proficiency in Local Language of state in which RRB is Located.
  • Office Assistants
    • Degree in any discipline,
    • Proficiency in Local Language of State in which RRB is Located.
  • Age Relaxation Criteria
    • For SC/ST - 5 Years,
    • For OBC - 3 Years,
    • For PWD - 10 Years,
    • For Ex-Serviceman - 5 Years

Written Test Pattern
The written test will be of objective type and of total of 200 Marks. Total questions will be 200 and a total time of 150 mins will be allotted for these questions.

-> Note That option of Hindi Language is available only in States of category A & B. There are three categories A, B and C in which 'C' category states do not have Hindi as their official language so candidates will not have this option and English will be mandatory for them.
-> Candidates after passing the exam will be eligible for RRBs in states under the category they have applied for (A/B Or C).
-> There is Negative Marking for wrong answers of .25 of the total marks for the question.

Scorecards

Candidates passing the exam will be given a scorecard Which will be valid for One year.
Region Rural Bank banks looking to recruit for these Posts posts will notify eligibility (age, education, minimum IBPS test score etc). Candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria can send in their applications & proceed directly to Interview or Group discussion (According to selection Criteria as decided by the bank).

How to Apply

 The Application Fee is as Below :-
For Officers (Scale I, II & III) - 

- Rs. 50/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

- Rs.450/- for all others

For Office Assistants (Multipurpose) -
- Rs. 50/- for SC/ST/PWD/EXSM candidates.

- Rs.350/- for all others


Payment can be done in Online or Offline Mode. Both are as described Below:-
Application via the ONLINE MODE
  •  Go to Online Application Link on IBPS Site and fill your details and choose option of Payment as Online Mode. After submitting the details you'll be directed to payment page.
  •  The application form is integrated with the payment gateway and the payment process can be completed by following the instructions.
  •  The payment can be made by using only Master/ Visa Debit or Credit cards or Internet Banking by providing information as asked on the screen.
  •  On successful completion of the transaction, an e-receipt will be generated whose print out have to be submitted with the Call Letter at the time of written examination.

Application via the OFFLINE MODE


  • Go to Online Application Link on IBPS Site and fill your details and choose option of Payment as Offline (CBS) Mode. After submitting the details a Registration Number and Password will be generated. A Payment challan will also be generated.
  •  After Two Days, pay the fee at any branch of any of Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Central bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank & United Bank of India.
  • After confirmation of payment, you'll receive an Email/SMS regarding the confirmation of your application.
  • After three days of payment, you'll be able to print your application.
